Default Gotta keep one - my 96 DS or 08 Precedent.

So I need advice. I like the handling and styling of my 96. I like the accelerator pedal action a LOT better on my 96. I understand that my 36 volt 96 would be faster than my Precedent if I converted it to 48 volts and my batts are five years old now. I like that there are a LOT more customizing options for the 96. What I HAVEN'T figured out yet is what my Precedent offers me that my 96 does not! Help me out guys! I'm wanting to love my recently purchased Precedent but finding it difficult!

So you will be needing new batts in the 96 real soon, you may want to take that opportunity and get a scottyb 48v solid state conversion kit.
You will get way better performance than the stock Precedent for sure.
The Precedent will go tops 19.6 mph stock.
I would keep the DS personally and put some money into it upgrading it the way you like...

It really comes down to body style IMO. Either cart could be modified to operate better than the other. I like the looks of the DS better than the Precedent, although I have seen some really cool looking Precedent's.

I have a buddy that has an 06 Pres he got for $50 that was in really bad shape except the electrical. With modified batteries (12v to 8v), modified 2 gauge cables, lift & larger tires, he can run the stock 250 amp controller at 24mph.

With all my mods, we run right about the same top end. I have my 36v motor, so I have more torque to climb better with more weight.

Anyway, "6 one, half dozen another".

Did you know that by programming the controller in the precedent wil get it to about 19 mph?

I would keep the newer 48 volt system and spend my money upgrading it as opposed to spending money trying to get an old 36 volt cart to 48 volts.

The precedent also has a better frame and looks great after some mods.

To me the ds carts look old. I got rid of my 2000 ds and kept my 08 precedent and never looked back.

Jake, you have some interesting comments, care to elaborate, or give more detail, not sure I really agree.

The Precedent already has a solid state system, but it can only go 20 mph with stock controller (250 amp).
If he upgrades the DS, he can choose a controller/motor combo and get way more torque or speed than the stock precedent will have.
Now he could always upgrade his Precedent, but I don't think they are as easy to upgrade...

Jake, the precedent is just as easy to upgrade, unless it has the excel system. I really think taking the newest cart is the best idea.

For about. $1,000 he could easily go 25mph plus with lots of torque.
He is looking at a lot more $ with the old cart.

Yes, I was thinking about the excel system making it difficult to upgrade. But if it doesn't have it, you're right, it would probably be better to go with the Precedent.
