Default GE vs Alltrax controller

I have been looking for some comparisons of the GE performance controllers, Alltrax or any other brand. I plan on pulling the trigger on a motor/controller combo and I would like to be able to compare them. I am sure they are both fine controllers but I just hate buying something and then finding out that another brand had some neat features that I don't. I would like to hear the end user. I believe QP folks sell GE and pretty sure ScottyB and others sells Alltrax so you guys are welcome to chime in also. This could be informative to a lot of folks.

I think plum quick sells ge now and I think use to sell alltrax with their motors. Call them.
I have had alltrax controllers in several carts, currently a 500 amp version in my 2008 precedent. Alltrax is a good company with good support and stand behind their product. The only bad thing is that it will not work well with anything other than a perfect working mcor, it will give jerky starts. I fixed mine with a new mcor and now runs great. Programming the throttle curve can also help with this problem too. Do a seach and you will see this is a common problem with Alltrax.

Btw, not sure what throttle system is in your 2000. I had a 2000 ds series cart that was not mcor, it was a little jerky too but not as bad.

I just looked at the wiring diagram for your cart that is posted in the stickies. You do not have an mcor, you have a multi step pententiometer. Not sure how the Alltrax likes that setup, it may be just fine. If not, like I said you can usually program the throttle curve to alleviate jerky starts.

I notice zero difference with turbo on or off.

We sell both. The GE (FSIP) control for series carts is a manually adjustable control. It has internal potentiometers with screw adjustments for throttle rate, amperage output, and plug brake.
Both are good made in the USA controls.
Dollar for dollar, you can get a higher amperage GE control for less $ because it does not have the computer program components.
There are more Alltrax controls out in the woods, down on the beach, out at the lake, and running around the neighborhood or farm than any other aftermarket brand of speed control period. That type of time testing is worth something. On the other hand is a reliable simple control from GE which is easily adjusted with a screwdriver that provides high output and solid service. The GE warranty is one year and the Alltrax warranty is 2 years.

Anix,

I bought a used GE 500 about 2 yrs ago off Craigs List. I have had no issues with it and I run the _rap out of my cart. I just cut down a jewlers screw driver so I can adjust the controller with out removing it from the cart.

Sounds good Steve. What kind of speed are you getting out of the D&D motor?
