melt DOWN !!!
WHY ?? tightened every thing Sunday and this happens Thursday ...
also can i "patch" the trojan ? i know how to repair the post but is this battery top fixable ? this is a first for me .. i've had post melt before but never this bad |

OUCH....that sucks. But if that positive terminal is any indication of what the negative looked like.....
Positive terminal is dirty and bare wire showing at the end of the insulation and eyelet. |

CTD, what kinda crimp is that on the cable terminal end? Mechanical and solder? That may be your prob? Also what was the battery location? My post hot melt prob have been the ds middle batt if its cub car 6 8 volts. Don't know how to fix this other than seal hole and add stud to flat area of post. Steve

You have nothing to lose. Clean up the lead, cut out the melted plastic and use some epoxy and a piece plastic and patch it. Put a stud in it and see what happens. It's cheaper then a new battery.

I've got tired of hot wires and everything I do is 1g welding cable mechanical and solder crimp. Haven't had any wire probs since then. Steve
