We have a 2012, registered/manufactured by the previous owner in 2015, Club Car Precedent we're trying to get a new tag for. I'm wondering how some of my fellow Floridians made out with regard to this. Specifically, any tips or tricks on how to talk to the insurance companies, and any companies that are writing standalone policies.

We are in Palm Beach County, if that helps/matters.
Hey Rob_s ...We own an independent insurance agency in Georgia and I know the rates in Florida won't be the same as Georgia but find an independent insurance agency close to you and call them for a quote, they will have many different carriers to compete for your business rather than just one company/one rate , pull up Auto Owners Insurance Company online and put in your zip code under agency search and that will show you the independent agencies in your area that they represent, they can give you quotes through Auto Owners along with many other carriers, in certain situations ( not all ) Auto Owners rates can't be beat, at least in Georgia and I assume their rates are competitive in Florida as well. Either way, an independent agency will get you a better rate almost every time as they can shop it through many companies and get you the best rate possible and in most cases you will be paying for insurance only and not insurance plus millions in TV ads and advertising expenses that are recouped in those rates. Sometimes a company you have never heard of will have the best rates by far, they don't have the tremendous advertising expenses to make back. Just make sure they have a good financial rating by AM Best , "A" rated or better. I have also heard it can be tough getting good rates in Florida after so many companies pulled out because of the hurricanes. Shop it with a couple of different agencies as the rates can vary greatly and be sure and let them know if it's tagged and driven on the road. That way you are street legal.

I am in Ft Laud also, and I pay about what you do 450-500 with 100/300. The Safeco wrong insurance was at 150.00 and they were certain it was what was needed in Florida.

So now we need to get it registered and titled. It's been a looooong time since I bought a used vehicle. IIRC we go down to the tax collector with our bill of sale, signed title, and proof of insurance, right? Anyone know what form(s) we might need ahead of time? I'd prefer to show up with all of the paperwork filled out.

I'm thinking it's this one

And money, usually only accept check or cash. Find yourself a private tag and title place, sometimes its way less wait and way easier people to work with. I'm sure it varies but my private tag place in Deerfield is easy as it gets.

Ah, wasn't aware I could go through a private tag place. That's probably a much better option. Thanks!

The one in Deerfield is just west of Military on Hillsboro on the north side of the road across from Century Village. It may cost alittle more (never compared or cared). Someone I know who isn't me brought a title to their sister company in Coral Springs without a bill of sale and when he was informed he needed one and didn't have it and looked alittle confused/upset the woman helping him pushed a piece of paper and a pen towards him saying she just needed to see something with the bill of sale info on it.

Well, I tried to hit up both the Lake Worth and Downtown WPB offices earlier this week, and both were a nightmare of .gov BS. The WPB office told me the wait was an hour and 45 minutes. Uh, no.

So today I went to the office on PGA, and had a GREAT experience. Go there at 8, doors opened at 8:20, and I was out the door by 8:45. No problems, no hiccups, just a $800 bill for two years and a personalized tag, haha. Without the personalized tag it would have been much lower, I'm sure.

The bright side for me is, I live in a golf course community and I can still get to the local Wing House by riding the sidewalk......
Best wishes to everybody though.
