Default Won't run unless tow/run switch is toggled

I have a 2001 DS that is a power drive plus system. Sometimes, when I put the key in and try to drive it, it won't move. Also, no reverse buzzer if I put it in reverse. When I switch the tow/run to tow and then back to run, it works fine.

I can hear the solenoids clicking after the tow/run has been triggered. Being that it's not consistent, is it a bad solenoid?

Thanks,

Doug

Does it only do it after charging?

No. It does it at any time. I could drive it for 30 minutes and it may or may not do it. They same if I just back it out of the garage.

Thanks,

Doug

I would think the solenoid but the fact that you say there is no reverse buzzer means the controller isn't getting power. Have you reset the obc? You can also rule out the obc solenoid activation circuit by jumping the negative side of the solenoid to the negative side of the pack.

Next time it does this don't flip the to run and do the bypass above and see if it works.

Nor more question does it by chance have an MCOR throttle?

I'll give that a try next time. I believe that it does have an mcor throttle.

Thanks,

Doug

I've verified that is does have an mcor throttle and I've tried resetting the obc.

Thanks,

Doug

The MCOR could be faulty as well (as well as many other things). There are two plugs on the MCOR. One is triangular which is the throttle input, the other is rectangular and simply is a small microswitch. Power comes from the key switch into the microswitch, from that microswitch into forward and reverse toggle or micros switches into the controller.

You can very easy unplug the rectangular plug from the MCOR and put a wire in the plug to by pass that micro switch and then try it.

I do have an MCOR if needed to test with. So this is a regen right?

Yeah, it's a Power Drive Plus regen 2.

I've still got the mcor I bought from you. :) I'll give that a try tonight.

Thanks,

Doug
