Default mismatched batteries

OK, First off, I happy to be back.

I had a G2 gas cart for a few years. Sold it and just bought an electric.

I picked up a really clean 2007 Club Car Precedent Professional Electric,,

serial PQ0725

Electric carts are new to me but I couldn't turn down the deal.

Problem is the batteries are mismatched. The PO said they are all new but they didn't have all of the batteries is stock we he purchased them. He was trailering it to a car show and decided to get two different kinds of batteries because he needed them right away. No time to order.

4 12 volt batteries, 48 volt system
2 are Club Car Trojan
2 are Batteries Plus GC12v golf cart batteries

He maintains that they are all new and installed at the same time in August of last year. They take charge fine and seem to operate ok.
Does anyone think I will have any issues?

I think your fine for the life of those batteries and when the time comes to replace then put a new matched set of 4/12's or 6/8's.

Well, I am shopping for batteries.

After owning the cart for a couple of days I could tell the run time was very short. 2-3 hours and battery light on.

I have one of the Club/Trojan batteries with a lower voltage than the rest.(10.3v) The other Club/Trojan is at 12.3v and the two newer Batteries Plus are at 12.8v each.

I charged the low battery by itself and then hooked it back up. After running the cart for a while it was down to 9.8v and the other three were still above 12v. The cart seems to run fine but after an hour or so the light comes on. Its still performing ok but this bad battery will most definately kill the others.

So I have my first delima with this cart........

Buy two new batteries since I have two that are still less than a year old or buy all 4 so I have a fresh start. I have looked into the 6/8 swap but the conversion kit is about $400 the I have to buy 6 of the 8v batteries.

Are these 2 Batteris Plus units worth trying to save/reuse?
Shoul I just buy 4 new quality 12v batteries?

I knew this was the risk buying an electric cart but darn, voltage was good and the cart ran great for the 15 minutes I tested it. Of course It came right off the charger.

. . . voltage doesn't move the cart . . . amperage does . . .

It sounds like You are going to really put some hours on this cart.
I would probably take the loss and buy 2 of the cheapest 12v battery's I could find to get by on then start saving for the 6 8v concersion.

Well, I didn't have a load tester.

Any recommendation on batteries?

Get a pair or a whole set.

I hate to just trade in the 2 almost new batteries as a core. Are these Batteries Plus units even worth saving. Not worth the hassle if they are junk anyway.
