What type radio setup do you have?
Looking for future purchase considerations. Radios. I have seen the combo(with or without the radio/speakers) for the roof setup and also for some sort of replacement dash.
What kind do you have and prefer/why? Suspect there are some pros and cons to putting up high or in the dash. For the putting up under the roof, how did you run the wires down? were you creative or tie-wrap going down the supports? Thanks for sharing...and yes this is addictive. |

I opted for the new dash with spaces for the radio and 6.5" speakers. My choice for this was that I wanted to replace the original dash anyway plus I didnt want the overhead.
As for the set up, I went with a Jensen marine waterproof face MS2013BTR. Nice little radio that I don't have to worry too much about getting wet while washing and it has the bluetooth capability for iphones, etc. i chose the infinity 612M marine speakers for the same waterproofing and they sound really good. Both can be bought on ebay for very reasonable. I am waiting on q 2 channel amp to arrive just to give it a little more push. Good luck |

Re: What type radio setup do you have?
I didn't care for the overhead setup. At the time I put my radio (Kenwood marine model with ipod control - don't remember specific model), I couldn't find a dash insert for the Precedent that had a place to put speakers. I installed my radio under the dash using a generic under dash, single din, mount. Basically a plastic box, open on the top, with the right sized cutout in the front for a single din receiver. I used polk marine shallow mount speakers and installed facing forward between the bottom of the seat and the floor in front of the batteries. Sounds great and I couldn't be happier. This weekend, I'm adding a bass tube between the front and rear seats.

Re: What type radio setup do you have?
Man if you guys could post pics, that would be awesome too. The 2 responses so far have different dash installs - curious to see what they look like.
Thanks. |

Re: What type radio setup do you have?
As a matter of fact, I do. The first pic is the radio mounted under the dash. Just bought an underdash single din mount online - I think it was less than 10 bucks shipped. The precedent front body panel is easily removed, so I removed it and drilled a hole in the plastic above where my radio was going and ran all my wiring down through the hole and around the front, behind the cup holders and under the floor or behind the dash accordingly. After wiring everything up, I through-bolted the mounting box and then replaced the front body panel.
For the speakers, I used a dremmel to cut the holes and had to dremmel out some small sections in the battery bay to make a little room for the speaker magnets. I measured and measured before ordering speakers and made sure to get the shallowest speakers I could find. Some said I'd never get decent speakers in this space but I made it work and they sound great. This is what I used for a radio antenna. It's made for motorcycles, to be hidden inside the fairing. The antenna part is flexible and has sticky tape on one side. I also mounted that underneath the front body panel and ran the radio end through the hole I drilled. |

Once complete, I can post some pics but its torn down now waiting on the amp. With the old dash out of there, I plan to mount the amp in the space behind the dash. Not sure about heat yet though but we shall see. |

Re: What type radio setup do you have?
If you get a head unit with a decent amp built in - it'll make plenty of noise for a cart. I think mine pushes 50w/channel. My sub also has an integrated amp so I don't have to find somewhere to mount an amp and worry about it getting wet. I'm mounting my sub such that I can just unplug it and take it off anytime I want.

Check out http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...car-build.html
I have had both setups. I like the dash better for the looks. I used a car stereo and car speakers because I had them. I definitely keep them dry and be careful when I wash the cart. This dash was a perfect fit and really easy to install. This dash with marine speakers and head unit would be the best option. I want to get a console unit because it comes with cup holders and storage. Next on my list. |

Re: What type radio setup do you have?
Don't assume marine components are immune to large amounts of water. In other words, be careful washing the cart whether you have marine stuff or not. My head unit is marine grade but both on the haul home from the lake last summer and the haul back there this year, it got pummeled with rain on the 3 hour trailer ride. When I got where I was going, the radio wouldn't even come on. Both times, after about a day and a half of drying out, it went back to working fine.
