Any idea who makes these blue motors? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371669453.938139.jpg when you buy the jakes lift buy itself it says I need a wheel extension due to the 12 in wheels any input on this? Any tips on install ? With the above being my goal how many amp controller would I need? Do I need a hd fnr ? |

Re: Club car upgrade time help
We are doing this by email but I will post here for everybody else's benefit.
The big Blue motor is a D&D motor. You need to identify which motor it is, tell us what size tires, how many passengers, and what size hills you will climb & if you have sandy or muddy ground. Then we can make an informed recommendation. |

Thanks scottyb. ill look up the motor tomorrow, but hills are moderate, moderate is subjective, so we have hills but not mountains. Live in se kansas. Two passengers tops but will use it for hunting so will throw a deer on the back at some point (flip flop seat in the distant future). But when it is converted to 48v it would be neat if it was a sleeper cart and be underestimated. At the course many people have much newer carts so it is one of the slower carts out there. So depending on my options I have and the cost of them I would like to have overkill. want more in the torque category. Ground around here is a mix of red clay. Tires were in the photo above 22x11-12 will be jakes 6" lift spindle.

Re: Club car upgrade time help
Just my 2 cents for what is worth.... I have a 1990 cc ds and building it primarily to deer hunt also, I went from 36 to 48 volts, purchased 2 gage wire, 400 amp solenoid, 700 amp fsip controler, throttle conversion kit, hd fr switch, and a digital volt meter from Scotty B and couldn't be happier.... Now this is where it gets a little sticky and I'm not trying to bash any company but I'm one to tell it like it is and not sugar coat it. I call Jakes with plans on going with 6'' double AArm package with the wheels and tires included and the sales rep asked me what kinda use the cart would be getting, I hunt in a hilly area and he told me I'd be better off with the spindle kit for clearance in the woods and being a newbie I figured I was getting professional advice so I agreed... Next he asked what tires I wanted and I was set on the 22'' swamp fox but after being asked if I would be on any gravel or payvment witch my answer was yes but very little I was talked into the Sierra Classics... This is what the cart looked like after the install

Re: Club car upgrade time help
Now with that being said after going for a few rides I tried to cross a very small wash out in a dirt field and it did it but pulled 1 front tire off the ground and then it dawned on me that with the spindle kit I was talked into has little to no articulation and when on the black top it hopped real bad so I double and triple checked my alignment but after reading up I moved a front tire to the rear and the hop followed, just before all this I took it to a buddy's house to see how it would do in the woods while there's a lot of green follage on the ground cause I bow hunt and will be hanging stands soon.... Well big dissapointment there cause the tires wouldn't hook up..... Also after having 22" tires I wasn't digging them and they actually measure out to be 21".... I got on Jakes site to get there number so I could address the out of round tire and the lack of traction, while on hold for quite some time I looked at the spindle kit description and it only allows up to 23" tire I think plus I had to buy hd leaf springs due to sagging rear end. Then looked at the double a arm and it allowed up to a 25" tire and at that point my blood started to boil a bit. When I finally got to tell somone my story they had someone from Nivel get ahold of me and he couldn't believe that I was anti sold the a arm kit and he said he would make it rite and send me 1 ASAP until he realized 3 days later they was on back order and that's why I was talked into the spindle according to him... Well this went on for 2 weeks lie after lie and I finally told them to please just refund my money

Re: Club car upgrade time help
After I was told my money would be refunded to my card I started looking at the Allsport 6" A arm kit and for a little more I could get the 7 1/2" and it will clear 26" tires, I also added 12" sti hd 2 wheels and ordered my tires seperate, after the cost of the hd leaf pack I previously bought and don't need now cause the Allsport comes with it I believe I was 180$ more than I spent for the spindle lift package and I couldn't be happier... Now the cart does what my vision was to begin with and will be much better when I get a pq or dd motor, gonna paint top black, rewrap the seats black, and cammo wrap the body... Here's what it looks like now
