Still charging after 5 apmres...
Seems like my 01 48v C-Car does not want to stop charging. after several hours the charger was at 3 ampres and still charging. I heard a gurgling from a battery... What have I smoked? I just replaced the diode in the charger...

Re: Still charging after 5 apmres...
Define several hours. on my 99 CC 48 Volt if I runn it all day some times it takes up to 8
hours for it to finally get past the last 5 Amps. |

Re: Still charging after 5 apmres...
also not uncommon for batteries to take 12 hours or better to charge, this depends on age of them and how you charge the cart.......do you leave your charger on till it shuts off? if not you should.............the noise is normal......how old are batts? have you tested voltage in each one...........................

Re: Still charging after 5 apmres...
The batts are from 03.
I after a few hours of charging the whole circuit was 56.4 volts. I did test them when they were apart and they were 8.5 ish or so each. I guess that today after work I'll charge them for the long haul. |

Re: Still charging after 5 apmres...
03 batteries are getting toward the point where they may charge fine and get to the required reading (which your reading sound great). The real test for a 5 Year old battery is how long it will maintain this charge .
The only way to test this is, under load. So once you get the cart charged all the way drive it for 15-20 minutes, then see how long it takes to recharge the batteries ( should not be much more 2 hours). Also here is a link, at the bottom it will tell you what % they are charging to0. http://www.trojan-battery.com/Batter...e/Testing.aspx good luck ! |
