1979 electric Club Car red hot wire
my positive wire to 1st battery just started getting red hot yesterday. The wire looks fine but even after a short drive it's so hot it's starting to melt the battery cover. The water levels are fine and all other wires are ok....any ideas?? should I just replace it with a thicker wire??? Just happened out of the blue...lucky I smelled it before it melted.

Greg,
A hot wire or connection is a Bad Thing, you must repair the problem immediately, if not sooner. That wire might "look OK", but it certainly is not. It should not need to be thicker than original, as the original didn't get red hot. Heavier wire is better, but.... |

Did you make sure all connections are clean and tight on all cables at both ends?

. . . replace the cable first . . . a cable can look "good", but have signs of deterioration beyond the cable end inside the insulation . . . if problem persists, then check battery(s) . . .

Re: 1979 electric Club Car red hot wire
I replaced cable and that one seems fine, now the 1 from batt #6 to the solenoids seems warm...not red hot like #1 but a little hot. I'll keep my eye on it....thanks for your help.
