charger not charging to full

Thanks for the info. I guess I should have just have plugged in the charger and let it do it's thing. After three hours It's up to 58.4 volts and running at 5.8 amps. It started at like 50 volts and 10 amps. I'll keep an eye on it for the next few hours and see where she is at.

sometimes this can take 12 hours or more, but yes you should never unplug the charger untill it is finished with the charge cycle,

Three hours later and I'm at 58.5 volts and down to 4.2 amps. The charger may not go over 58.5 volts? But I'm going to take your advice and let it finish the cycle. I did break down and read the manual lol. It says after the first cycle the charger will go into a float cycle. I'll see what she looks like in the morning. Thanks again for the info.

just keep an eye on the water, and keep it above the plates, with distilled water only, it's doing good let it charge

This morning the charger was at 58.8 volts and 2.8 amps. Water is good with little bubbles coming to the top. These are new batteries that I never fully charged by the looks of it. So far this charger has been running about 17 hours. Maybe the charger will be in the float cycle when I get home from work.

Maybe .... sounds like another cheap charger won't do the job story.
63-68 volts is the manufacture's recommended cut off voltage for 48v pack. If you are not getting a full charge you cannot expect full performance. That may mean diminished performance & shorter useful life.

Could be! The charger is still running, water is good. The volts dropped down to 58.3 and the amps dropped down to 2.4. Still not in the float cycle yet. The cables are not the best looking. That could be a problem? I have 20 feet of 2ga cable, I just need to get the cable ends and I will make new cables. Solder not crimp. Also me not maintaining the batteries properly did not help much. I'm gonna order a parts kit for my other charger and see if I can get it running.

Well after about 31 hours of charging the voltage and amperage started to go back up. I'm bumping 59 volts and 2.8 amps. See what it looks like in the morning. the only thing I did different was take the caps off the batteries. I set the caps back on top of the battery at a angle to stop acid spatter. I did not lock the caps down.

Well I let the Stanley charger run for 36 hours. These new batteries never had a proper charge and I run them down less than 50% and sit for weeks without a full charge. Yah not a good thing to do. I let the pack sit for 17 hours before I checked the voltage. 8.6 volts on each battery. This is good because two of the batteries were two tenths low compared to the others. After the charge I also run 2ga cables just on the batteries. Going to run more cables when I get them made. After a one mile run the batteries each had 8.5 volts and the pack was at 51.4. I have parts coming for my power drive 2. I don't want to charge the batteries for 36 hours again but it seems it may have helped the pack equalize?
