Default FSIP controller issue

This has been going on for a while now, finally have the time to try and get this figured out, the cart is an 02 club car IQ, 48 volt, plum quick bandit motor, good battery pack, #2 wires throughout the cart, 6" lift, 23" tires. controller mounted in the stock location, 400/1000 amp solenoid, I did not use any thermal paste during installation.

Now the problem , the controller gets so hot it actually will shut down and not run until it cools off some, if you drive the cart slow, this happens a lot sooner than say a more wide open throttle drive, so hot is defined as you are not able to touch the controller or the piece of aluminum its mounted too. the motor and controller were installed at the same time, and this problem has been there since, the controller also has regen braking, which I do not like , and already know I need to send it back in to have this removed, wondering if maybe there might be a known issue or something?

part number of the controller is 51-FX503G021-572 W/ braking

I asked this question about a year ago, but had no luck

pack voltage is 51.5, at wide open throttle, the very worst voltage drop down to 39.8, then almost immediately back up to 43, then slowly creeps back to 44.5, all batts test good, at between 8.55 and 8.61, all load test fine, so I am not sure what to do at this point.

Just creeping, say 1/4 throttle, pack ran around 47.5 and up

I asked this question some time ago, but did not have the time to get the above readings, so I am ready to try and figure this out, any and all help will be greatle appreciated

Its obviously thermal shut down or overload. My cart was doing his just as.you said. Half throttle only makes it worse. I don't think there is a known issue. Have you upgraded the f/r switch?

He has an IQ cart....There is no upgrade to the F/R switch. It is just a switch and not a lever.

Its an IQ, so no FNR switch to upgrade

I know its a thermal overload, but why?

My friend, with a 98 CC series cart, 700 amp ge controller, plum quick rattlesnake 2 aftermarket motor, upgraded wires, solenoid, fnr, ect, popping wheelies in the yard, never gets hot, very warm but never to the point of thermal shutdown, just caint figure out why my cart always leaves me stranded, waiting on it to cool down.

Regenerate is in the controller, if the bandit should remove this feature, then maybee a motor problem?

Might be the 23" tires ? I put a bandit on my other cart and PQ told me not to go over 22" tires I had a 500 amp controller on it and didn't have any problems.

Oops. Overlooked that. Not sure what could be caused the thermal shutdown. I've never lifted and built out an IQ, only series

IMO the 23"s are not good for the Bandit in the long term, 25"s killed my Bandit in a month on a series cart, I also have a 500 FSIP. Also don't IQ carts just run hotter than a series cart? So all the wires to controller to solenoid and motor have been upgraded?
