36V LED battery meter not resetting
So, about a year ago I threw out the stock CC SOC meter on my 87 DS 36V and replaced it with this one:
Normally we drive the cart several hours, going up steep hills and just cruising around on the 100 miles of cart paths here in town, and the meter rarely gets below the 50% mark. When we got home yesterday I hooked up the charger (Lestronic II 36V) and let it charge all night like I always do. Today, we were about to going out shopping and before leaving I noticed the meter was still at the same ~50% mark it was before I connected the charger the night before. I know the charger works, it clicks on and buzzes and shows about 10A on the gauge. I got out the multimeter and checked the pack voltage and got 38.2V, which I believe is a full charge without the charger on. I pulled out the LED meter and disconnected and reconnected it and of course it went to "Full" immediately, like I believe it is supposed to. We drove the cart a long way today and the meter dropped to about 50% as it normally does, and again I plugged in the charger when we got back. After about 3 hours I went out to check on it and the charger is still running but the meter still shows ~50%. I'm thinking (and praying) it's just a bad meter... Do I just have a bad LED meter or is something else going on? My batts are 2010 NAPA 6V and I always keep them clean and full of water. |

Re: 36V LED battery meter not resetting
UPDATE: I just went out and checked it, the charger is running at about 8A and the pack voltage is at 40V, so I think it is most definitely the meter.
Crash, that's crazy! Imagine if you could drive a 99V cart around |

SD
Crash is dead on right here. Digital is the only way to go. The one pictured here is from http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Digita...ry_Meters.html My DVM has not failed since I installed it in March. We ride everyday like you on the trails. |
