Default 1974 club car

Hi. I'm having issues when going through speeds 1st speed barely goes. 2nd speed picks up a little better. But when it goes into 3rd speed. It accelerates very quickly. Jerking you. But then again at a complete stop. If you floor the pedal. It spins the rear tires. I replaced all 4 solenoids. And coil resistors. The batteries all have readings around 6.24 volts at a full charge. But something is weird. The outer batteries when tested together reads 12.34 volts. But when I test the 2 center batteries. It reads negative 12. Volts Any help would be greatly appreciated. Driving me batty
