Arrow Charging in enclosed trailer?

Hello all, I am pretty new here and new to golf carts. Just picked up a 2010 Precedent with custom paint, 6" allsports lift, custom seats, rhino lined top, new wheels and tires. I have learned alot in the week or so that I've been a member but a question that I can't seem to find an answer to is this.........Is it ok to charge the batteries while cart is in an enclosed trailer? The trailer is 6'x12' if that matters. I've read and been told to not charge in an area that's not well ventilated, just wondering if this would be ok or dangerous or what? Also what about charging with a vinyl cover over the cart? Any help would be greatly appreciated

You will release hydrogen gas, but other than that no.

Personally I would not do it. I have walked into in to the 24x24 garage and smelled the hydrogen

Thanks sunoco, not to sound like a complete idiot but how dangerous is it? I mean are we talking something as bad as explosions or what?

lol yeah its probably dangerous.

A customer called once and said his wifes cart died one night. He drove to where she was to check it out. He removed the seat and popped open one of the batteries to "see if she had run them dry". He didn't have a flashlight, so he pulled out his cigarette lighter and struck it above the battery. It exploded in his face.

From wiki - "Hydrogen gas forms explosive mixtures with air if it is 4–74% concentrated and with chlorine if it is 5–95% concentrated. The mixtures may be ignited by spark, heat or sunlight."
