Default New batteries, still not charging

I own a 2003 Club Car, 48v, replaced all 6 batteries 3 weeks ago with brand new batteries. I used the car on July 4, ran well all day, I went to put the charger on it, and immediately the charger went to 15, the charger ran a little bit and kicked off, the amp button popped out. I tried charging this several more time, but the charger did the same thing. I used my neighbors charger same brand, for a Club Car. His charger immediately the needle went to 15, and after 3 hrs of running, I checked, the needle had not moved and the charger was extremely hot, in fact it burned the chord I was using to connect the charger and cart. We checked the battery cables, wires inside the cart, nothing was hot, or even warm, nothing gurgling, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks

Sounds like something got miswired when you replaced the batteries. Check the wires that go to the charger and measure them at the charger connector. You should see the full pack voltage there.

We're you using the cord that was with the charger already? What does this mean?

Was this the first time you charged the batteries after installing new batteries? If so you have probably run the batteries down quite a bit as they should of been charged before using them the first time. That being said...going to 15 would not be unusual, nor staying there for some time as the batteries were really discharged! The charger if at all possible should be plugged directly into the wall. If not the extension cord should be at least 14 gauge and 12 gauge would be better!!
