Light Kit to replace DS Factory Kit
I inherited/was gifted a 1996 48v DS from my in-laws. It's had a hard life, but luckily it is mechanically sound. I just put new batteries in it and this thing runs good as new.
At some point in its' life it was run into a tree and messed up the factory lights. Now it just has holes where the factory lights were (front cowl is surprisingly not destroyed, but will need some love before I get it painted down the road). I've looked into replacing the lights with OEM so I don't have to deal with wiring, but it seems like I can get a full new headlight/tail light kit for less than replacing just the headlights. With that said, this is the best price I have been able to find. Light Kit and after shipping it is comparable to this kit Will these fit the factory cutouts? Is one of these better than the other? Is there a different one you would recommend? I'm new to all of this and I'm trying to be very budget minded. I would really appreciate any advice or guidance you all could provide. |

Ebay $64.95 free shipping. Not sure if it will fit factory cutout.

Re: Light Kit to replace DS Factory Kit
Most aftermarket that look like the factory lights won't fit the factory holes.
I don't think those will cover the factory hole |

Do you still have the factory wiring?
These are OEM CC lights. Kinda pricey, but they are OE. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Club-Car-DS-...item43b116af52 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Club-Car-DS-...item43b116af53 |

Re: Light Kit to replace DS Factory Kit
OK - so I finally have my cart and I'm trying to figure out how the factory lights are wired so I can tap into what I thought was the voltage reducer.
After tracing the wires, now I'm not so sure. Disclaimer: I am a complete novice at electrical. After doing some research, I found that a voltage reducer should be mounted to the side of the frame under the driver seat. I do have something mounted there, but it looks like it is just connected to a negative on a battery, grounded to the cart, and connected to the controller? Is this the voltage reducer? I traced the factory wires to a fuse box with 4 "20" fuses mounted on the frame directly under the back end of the charge port or would this be a voltage reducer? (again, I'm a complete novice) Or is there no voltage reducer and factory lights on a '96 are 48v? I've searched around for a factory lighting diagram and haven't had any luck. Any guidance the good people here could provide would be insanely helpful. I will be installing the kit that golf cart man recommended on ebay. Thanks! *edited for image size* |
