Hey guys,

Got the OBC from golfcartking today a little after noon. Pulled off the roof and seat back assembly and the rear body to make getting to everything a little easier since the cart doesn't have an access panel, and went to work putting it in. The OBC was an updated version, and came with the amber battery light and the updated fuse for the gray wire behind the charger port, which were both very easy to install. The cart now runs and charges like new again! Put everything back on the cart and it's awaiting a good cleaning early tomorrow so I can return it to it's owner Now that I know how the OBC functions I may be able to help a few others with the same problems. Huge thanks to Crash Test Dummy for all the help and for patiently answering my newbie questions.

What's the advantage of getting a new OBC vs. getting a smart charger? I went the charger route and figured I now only have one part to replace vs two. Hopefully I never have to replace my new charger.

Try what exactly, the OBC reset? The buzzer only goes off and fades out after close to 30 seconds if the buzzer is hooked up. If the reverse buzzer has been disabled, you could always hook it back up for the reset then re-disable it.

I have a 2010 precedent/excel and I never heard the reverse buzzer during OBC reset either.
I believe you will only hear the buzzer if you have a series cart since the buzzer negative simply connects thru a micro-switch to ground.
In the IQ/Excel/Sepex carts the buzzer negative (orange/white wire) comes from the controller, which I think will not operate as soon as the cable is disconnected from the battery pack (very quick low voltage shutoff).
The principle still applies though, which is to provide a load in order to remove any residual charge from the system forcing the OBC to reset.
