any ideas on fooproof battery meter
Hello all,
We have a 1994 ClubCar DS 36V. It is used by many people. I have put in 6 new batteries and a remaned controller. I stress the importance of not letting the batteries go down below 50 percent to them. ( I think thats the right percent. Please correct me if im wrong.) So, I want to install a battery meter showing how much battery is left. I have seen analog ones and digital ones. I was wondering if anyone knew of a real straight forward one where one could look at and see how much battery is left. Thanks, Erik |

Re: any ideas on fooproof battery meter
If it were me, I would install one of Scottie B's digital meters. So far, mine has proven to be durable and accurate. 50% battery on a 36v is 36.31 volts. That will be difficult to determine on an analog.

Yes don't let them get below 50%, and scottyb's meter is the best!

Too bad nobody has made a good digital meter that reads in Percent Charge Remaining. It would be easy to do with a simple processor and the standard voltage vs percent chart. You could even temperature correct it if you wanted to be anal about it.

Re: any ideas on fooproof battery meter
Here's the ultimate in metering for electric vehicles: http://www.jerryrig.com/convert/step11.html
It's called the Cruising Equipment eMeter; it gives you a readout of the Amp Hours removed from the battery bank. Also, it gives you a readout of the current draw and voltage of the pack. Not real cheap, I paid well over $200.00 for the one in my travel trailer. |

Also check out that online auction site. I just purchased one there that is waterproof and measure identical to my handheld voltmeter. Cut out a small section and mounted it in my dash.
