new OBC-for 1 month, now no charge
I have a 98 club car 48 volt, with 6 eight volt batteries.
I had a bad obc, so installed a new one about a month ago. Everything seemed fine for the month, cart ran well, and charged fine. Last week, while on the golf coarse, I had a passenger with me, and we went down in a small valley area of the fairway, but the cart would not climb out of it. Just heard a clack, clack, clack, no go. Towed cart back home. Charger will not kick on. I took the charger and tried it on another cart, and the charger works fine. But when I plug in the charger to my cart, nothing. My cart will drive again, ( for some reason), but will not charge. While the charger was plugged into the cart, I turned on the key, and stepped on the pedal, and the cart would move. I thought as long as the charger was plugged in, the cart should not be driveable. Well it is. My question, is could something have happened to the new obc? That would suck, it cost be over 200.00, and only lasted one month. Any advice on what to try / do now? Cart will run, but won't charge. Help! |

Do a reboot on your OBC and see if it works. Also check the plugs if they are in controller tight.

Crash test dummy beat me to it... Check the fuse in the yellow fuse holder. It may be blown. Also, give the grey wire a tug and see if it's not broken internally inside the charger receptacle.

Re: new OBC-for 1 month, now no charge
Hey guys this is what I found :
I tried the reset, no dice. Then I started checking the connections, all seemed tight. Fuse was good in the yellow holder. Started following each wire from the new obc, and found the # 10 black wire leaving the obc, was melted in half, just above the motor electrical posts. When I ran the gray coil stuff, I did not tywrap it and it apparenty shorted in half, when it was laying on the motor terminal. I got favor from above, because I butt spliced the wire back together, and tried it. Bam!, The charger kicks on now. Yea baby!! I tywrapped the flex coil up, away from the motor now. Thanks guys for your help, it pointed me in the right direction. NOW, I have a question about the stick regarding resetting the obc. Can someone be more precise, by adding a step to that sticky, so it will be easier to follow? What I have problems with, is after you step on the pedal until the buzzer stops, it says " leave it like that for 5 minutes". DOES THIS MEAN YOU NEED TO KEEP THE PEDAL PRESSED FOR 5 MINUTES, OR CAN YOU RELEASE THE PEDAL, AND WAIT?? I would like some clarification, so every step is included. I still don't know if I am doing it right or not, so I keep the pedal down for 5 minutes. Can someone make this step more clear ? Thanks |
