Received a '81 Club Car from my Uncle. What now?
My uncle asked if I wanted his electric old golf cart that has been sitting under a tree for the last 5-6 years. Without thinking, I said sure. It is in bad shape. It does not run. It needs lots of lovin' care.
That being said; I've learned a bunch reading threads on here already. Thank you for that. I would like to get it operational for hunting season in south texas. mostly dry, flat conditions with some mud from time to time. Besides reading as much as I can, where would you start on a complete renovation project? |

Re: Received a '81 Club Car from my Uncle. What now?
First, I'd decide what direction I want to go on it. Lift? 48v conversion? Restore to stock? etc. Once you decide that then you could start the complete teardown of the cart if you want to go that route. If you wanna go back to stock I personally would throw in a set of batteries and see what works, what needs repair, if all 5 solenoids fire, and so forth. Good luck and keep us posted, with pics if possible!
EDIT: for complete renovation, I'd start by taking the body off. Be careful with the body pieces as they are fibreglass in those years. Last edited by 93yellowclubcar; 07-22-2013 at 03:21 PM.. Reason: I read the end of hun's post |

Need to get it moving. Power train first . Battery test 6+ years old prolly need new. Then work your way back. Battery solenoid . Ou need to think if you want to keep it a resistor cart or convert it to a controller. Then motor once it moves then worry about wheels lift and aesthetics
