Default 2004 Club Car slowing down

I have a 2004 Club Car with the speed set to fast, but the last few weekends it seems to slow down at will. It will go the normal speed but then start to slow down. I can play with the pedal and it will speed back up. Any ideas what that could be? Thanks for any help.

sounds like a failing MCOR (thing that controls speed)

Is that an easy fix or will I need to take it to someone?

i agree could be the M-COR as far as the fix whats your skill level with electric carts? just wouldn,t want you to cause more damage as it can get expensive......................................

IF its the mcor its two quick plug wires and two little screws. More of a pain to get to than a technical piece to work on. If it's going to be one hour labor, I would say pay someone to do it (but I'm one of those someones so I'm awfully biased.)

FYI: The MCOR is the black box on the passenger side below the floorboard it has a bar connected from the accelerator pedal.. It is a potentiometer controlling speed.

Thanks for the information. The slowing down is not very noticeable really. At first I thought i was imagining it....Will keep the MCOR in mind if it keeps doing it or gets worse. A buddy of mine's Club Car one went for full speed ahead into reverse. Would an MCOR cause this if were bad?

The I.Q. cars slow down and speed up a little anyways. If you had someone set the speed high with an IQDM, you may want to ask if they set the pedal up mode to 0, if not it makes the slowing down worse.
~~
MCORs only control speed, and solenoid activation, direction is not controlled by it. What year is his car, and do you mean he was going forward full speed, and it just started going reverse by itself?

I believe his car is a 2002 Precedent..I am not sure. Yes he was going full speed and it all of the sudden started going in reverse...it was kind of funny until he slammed into me.

Thanks again for the information.

precedents came to be in 2004, a few in 03 as test runs...On a precedent (or regen or I.Q., the cars with rocker switches for f/r) The direction is controlled by the controller, and it is triggered by the micro switch for F/R.

if its a f/r rocker switch.

your culprits are kinda limited to
micro switch for f/r (not likely the safety features should prevent it from re-engaging)
controller theoretically it could short and cause the symptom
motor a short could cause the symptoms as well..

unless someone else knows a different cause..
