Default Canopy Brake Light Help?

Finished a cart (48V 2004 CC DS Series) and sold it. Then they want it street legal. I'm down to the last item and maybe I'm rushing it but I've yet to figure this one out.

Canopy Brake Light. Bought a small adequate light from a cart shop. Decided to tap into the wiring harness by removing a taillight (drivers side). Everything is new and works fine. I ran the red line from the canopy light to the red line in the brake light harness and did the same with the black line. Canopy light works but also blinks when the left turn signal is activated. What am I missing?

You basically have just tapped into the left turn signal stop light. The turn signal light and the brake light are the same bulb filament. That is why it flashes. There is a way around this, but not sure how it works. you would have to connect to both brake wires on each side. Then there is a device that goes between them that realizes it is a turns signal and not a brake light. Basically only puts power to the canopy light when it receives power from both brake lights. By the way didn't know you needed a canopy light to become street legal.

It's a new law...3rd Brake Light required. I've got it functioning as a Brake Light but it also functions as a turn signal (left side only)
If you had to wire one up on a cart that was done...how would you wire it up?

Run a separate wire from the brake light switch directly to the 3rd canopy light. Would be the easiest over what you did.

That's what I tried the first time. I would have bet money that it would have worked, but it didn't.

Logic module is what I was trying to think of.

How did you ground the light? Was power on the separate wire? What kind of brake switch you using?

The Brake Light Switch mounted under the cart and activated by pressing the brake has 2 wires that connect to the wiring harness (harness is new, works fine) for the head, tail, brake and turn signal / lights. I connected at those 2 points. Once I made that connection I had zero lights that would work on the back of the cart. Removed connections and bingo...back to where we started.

I've been researching that link that you provided and I think that by adding a 3rd brake light to a harness not set up for it will require a "3rd Brake light logic Module" and since the existing lights are LED the 3rd needs to be as well.
