Default Polarity and voltage on Key Ignition on 94 CC

I've searched around but can't get a straight answer. I need to know what is the polarity and Voltage that goes across the key/ignition switch on a 1994 Club Car DS - 36v. Some say it negative polarity but yet my old volt meter reads it as positive and its like 12v or something not even 36

It's just a hot 36v wire that goes to one side of the switch and when the key is turned it allows voltage to flow to the other side. Input wire comes from positive on battery to f/r switch then to key switch. When key is turned positive voltage flows through key switch to microswitch on f/r and then to small post on solenoid.
In short it's 36v positive

Early carts had pack negative thru the key switch. Is it safe to say the controller carts have pack + thru the key and resistor coil carts have - ?

Resistors are still positive. The only one I am not sure about is 5 solenoid carts cause it's been a while but even on those I can't see why they wouldn't be positive to key.

I have been trying to figure this out as well. I have an 85 club car with two posts. Its a five solenoid resistor cart. I have tested the key switch and don't have any voltage at all. It also has two posts. Cart only runs with key on....Is yours the same setup?

If your cart runs with key on the switch is bad with contacts shut. Put a DVM on ohms and check it with leads on both terminals you should get reading with key switch in on position only

PS... Just checked schematic and 5 solenoid cart is negative to key switch

I thought that's the whole perpose to have the car run when the ignition key is in the "ON" position and not run when it's in the "off" position. So you lost me by saying my switch is bad if its doing its job. I just new to know what polarity is running through it.
