Default Re: 96 cc ds series, current flow?

I guess I could have asked a little more clearly.

Here we go:

Battery voltage goes through key to pot. Pot has 2 wires going to speed controller giving resistance inputs based on pedal position. Speed controller takes these inputs and delivers appropriate amperage to motor through the f/r switch. F/r switch has 3 limit switches. First is anti-arcing to reduce wear on aluminum bar thats used as the contact for the lever. Second is for the reverse buzzer and third is half speed reverse control. F/r switch has 4 larger wires going to controller and motor. 2 have small terminal ends that rotate and 2 are bolted to aluminum bar. What I really want to understand is how the juice flows from the controller to the motor. Which lugs make it go forward? Which go reverse? Are 2 lugs for forward and 2 for reverse?

Solenoid is controlled via 2 small terminals. One is positive and connected to f/r limit switch. One is negative and is connected to obc (or was, but now directly to M- on my controller). Once the pedal is pushed "enough", the limit switch activates and engages the solenoid?

Thanks again

What you described sounds correct to me. Not entirely sure, however about reverse, but reading this may help ya:

how can cart motor run in reverse?

Good luck and hope this helps!

That's what I was hoping to find for a newer, series cart.

Thanks

Glad to help. I *think* that reverse in a newer series cart works the same way, the method of speed control is just different (controller in lieu of "inefficient" resistors).
