New DPI Accucharger, Stuck on Detection

Hi Guys,
I have a 2000 CC 48V Series cart. Just received by new DPI charger.
First thing I did was remove the black wire running from the back of the charger receptical and connected it to the negative side of the battery pack. Plugged everything in, all lights blinked 2 times indicating mode 2 (I have Electro Batteries, and not sure what mode I need)

After light blinks I get solid red Power and Detection leds. Then nothing. No amp reading or anything.

By the way the cart is new to me and I have yet to have a charger work, With help from this board, I diagnosed a bad OBC so I ordered this charger. But still no charge. I checked the fuse on the gray wire and it is good.

The cart runs, but I have not run it much because I dont want to discharge the new batteries too much until I get charging issues corrected.

Any ideas?

Yeah you need to get a charger working ASAP to avoid hurting your new batts.
They like to be topped off, not sitting discharged.
I know Scottyb sells these DPI chargers, so he should know something about the charge modes.
Check your wiring, and make sure nothing is disconnected/broken.

. . . strange . . DPI error codes are usually "flashes", not solid LED indicators . .

Also, not to rain on anyones parade, but IMO, a 12 amp charger is way undersized

The DPI 48v charger puts out 17amps at bulk charge.

I stand corrected, was thinking of their 72 volt charger.

The higher the voltage the lower the amperage requirements because the lower the battery amp hour because the less amperage needed.

so the higher the amperage of the charger, regardless of voltage , reduces charge time.

The 1st phase is the bulk refill (for lack of a simpler term) This phase alone utilizes the full capacity of the charger. Phases 2-5 use reduced amperage output. Phase 1 is the shortest of all the phases, often lasting only 45 minutes of the 5-8 hour charge. Go to the link above and read more about recharging GC batteries on the carts unlimited website.

thanks, but don't most people have "wet cell" batts, as opposed to the gc you were referring to? That's what I based my statement off of, using the traditional wet cell, deep cycle batts.
