48V Club Car 1999

Just had a 99 48V Club Car Ds given to me. I have a few questions if you guys dont mind. I am gonna use this thing primarly for the woods it is totally stock right now. My plans include a 6in lift 10in camo wheels and 22 ITP tires from buggies unlimited. My questions to you guys is. How is the quality of the parts from buggies unlimited? Are they a good company? The batteries in the cart are trojans they are 3 years old. Should I replace the batteries before I take off in the woods. How will this carts performance be when it is lifted with no controller? Will it be so underpowered that it would not even be worth taking it off the trailer or will it just not go through the stuff like it could with a controller. Also one thing I have noticed is that for the Fwd and Rev it has a swith instead of a handle is this normal or was this a option. Thanks guys I look forward to hearing your advice.

its a reagan cart thats why the switch.......sorta like a jake brake on a truck........as for woods and hills unless you upgrade controller and motor and all cables i don,t think you,ll be happy with the off roading with just a lift and tires......3 year old trojens if they are well maintained have vthem tested if they test good keep up the maintence you should get another 4 or 5 years out of them.........battery maintence is very important.....................

Thanks, Is it normal for the batteries to bulge at the sides over time. They are not doing it to an extreem but just not perfectly square. I have replaced the cables tieing the batteries together with four gauge. Sounds like I need to buy a whole cable kit. So I have a mini jake brake... nice to bad I dont have the jake brake sound to go with it.... Thanks for your input. Anbody have anything to say about buggies unlimited. I really hate to spend money on junk as far as the lift is concerned I feel they have a good deal on the wheels and tires. Thanks again

i,ll jump in........it all depends on the item......some good some good with no directions and than some buyers really unhappy......as for your batts a little buldging is normal................................if you want any increase in speed you have to change all 6 gage cables not just the battery cables...........................

What do you think about upgrading the controller for the bigger tires?

Welcome to the forum Qikstang..............

The regen cart. Thats short for regenerative braking. If it rolls without accelerator movement, it will act like the brakes are on somewhat and the beeper will beep. These are good carts and don't give much trouble. Most folks don't like the regen breaking, is a safety feature. Its a re-generator and puts a little juice back in the batteries, and will keep the cart from accidently running away with itself down hill. (or at least from running 60 miles per hour)

under normal driving like flat road campground type stuff unless the controller is getting hot they seem to be fine but for hunting and driving in the woods yes i would upgrade controller with bigger tires and even the motor, i know its expensive but have talked to lots of guys who were just real unhappy and tired of pushing or pulling their cart out of the woods with just stock cart and lift and tirrs...................................

Thanks guys and thanks for the welcome to the board. I am def planning on upgrading the power side of it. Just wondering how it would be with out a controller. All my buddies carts will pretty much power right up a tree but I am trying to build this on a budget here. This regen motor I have does this hinder top speed with a controller? And does a special controller need to be bought when replacing the stock one? Any of you guys seen rear seats for a more reasonable price then $350... Remember I am cheap!!!!

350.00 isn,t bad at all..........thats just about wholesale so you can,t get much cheaper.......the seat not you...........................lolol............... ....
