Quick Battery Q
I have recently bought a volt meter to monitor the life of my batteries. They are at least 4yrs old and I would like some time to set back a little cash each month for when I do have to purchase new ones.
I am referencing the "State of Charge...." table that has been generously supllied by members. Last night I labled my batteries after approx 6hrs off the charger (Quick-Charge OBC) These are the readings I got, begining with the Pos side as 1 and 8 being the neg. This is a 48v system with ( 8 ) 6v Fullriver DC250-6 (250Ah) (1) 6.54v (2) 6.56v (3) 6.53v (4) 6.38v (5) 6.38v (6) 6.52v (7) 6.55v ( 8 ) 6.56v These all seem to be higher than the table reflects. Am I not letting it rest long enough after the charging process? Do these numbers look good to go? Any concerns with the 2 middle batts (6.38v). Should these be moved to other slots? Maybe switched with the higher v batts (2 & 8 )? Many Thanks |

Re: Quick Battery Q
I always rotated in pairs every six months. More often if I started seeing some imbalance going on. Where are the 2 extra six volts mounted - bagwell? What number are these?

Re: Quick Battery Q
Wait 12 hours before you check the readings. This will give you an accurate voltage measurement.
Do you have any accessories that run off of only two of the batts? |

Jake, good point regarding the accessories, there is a red wire on #4 and a black wire on #5 (these are the two weaker batts). Have not traced them to the acc. yet. Scooter, #4 & #5 are in the same compartment, but "scooted" back a little and harder to reach (See pic) I took readings again last night. These numbers are after 36hrs from last charge and 3 or 4 miles of riding in fairly hilly but not rough terrain. 1)6.46v 2)6.47v 3)6.45v 4)6.30v 5)6.31v 6)6.43v 7)6.46v 8 )6.47 Can you goin into further detail of rotating in pairs? Many Thanks |

Switch accessory wires to 6&7 then wait one month switch to 8&1 then wait one month switch to 2&3 then back to 4&5 this will help keep even strength over the entire pack. ,

Re: Quick Battery Q
Thanks Shaffer, that sounds much easier than moving the batts around. It would be a good time to trace those wires and determine which acc they power.

Re: Quick Battery Q
Did you have to make a bracket if some kind to fit those extra two batteries ?i wouldn't mind doing same thing with my extra two when I go 48v. Seems cleaner then having them in bag well.
