Default 1998 DS brakes, self adjusting?

I have a 1998 Club Car DS electric cart. I was about to clean and adjust the rear drums and noticed I don't have the adjustment screw on the back of the drum like I've seen in all the videos and how to pics. Further up line on the brake cable, prior to the cable splitting in two toward the rear, is a large spring mechanism with an adjustment there. Shouldn't I have an individual adjustment on each drum for the pads? Thanks in advance.

If you pull the drum you will see a notched wheel at lower bottom between brake shoes.Hence, self adjusting

If you think the brakes aren't stopping you properly, back up at full speed and then brake to a stop, back up at full speed again and then brake again. This will make the self adjusters, well, adjust. The big adjustment by the spring mech is to adjust amount of pedal travel before the brakes start braking. Hope this helps!

By the way, welcome to BGW!

Sometimes they are worth inspecting, especially if you doubt the brakes are working well or the wheel gets hard to turn by hand. I have seen many overactive self adjusters on CC over the years. The common complaint I heard was one wheel braking hard. Replacement of the offending adjuster seemed to be the only solution?

There are a lot of hills in my neighborhood and it sounded like metal on metal on the right rear after a long down hill. Probably just got really hot. There's plenty of pad left so just cleaned them up. Thanks guys and thanks for the welcome.
