Batteries were bone dry!
I just bought a 48v 03 club car ds. Its my first cart ever. Everything looked great and it drove nice. I tested the batteries with a volt meter when I bought it and they were around 8.25
I was reading through the owners manual were it says to check battery water level weekly. So popped all the covers of and seen no water at all So I topped them all off with distilled water too all the plates were just covered. You guys think the batteries will be ok? I have it on charge now. Should I leave it plugged in all night? Should I always leave it plugged in when I'm not using it? Thanks so much for any info...Really cool forum you have here |

I bought an ez go a couple months ago, and my batteries were bone dry too.
I put water in each battery, removed all cables, charged each one slowly to get some voltage in them, and then applied the big charger to charge them all at once. The batteries work okay, I usually charge overnight to ensure a good charge. We only use it at the campground though... |

Re: Batteries were bone dry!
Ya I used a gallon and half of water to get them topped off. That seems like allot too me. So what did you charge them with when u charged each one slowly? Did you use the cart charger or a differant one? Thanks

Re: Batteries were bone dry!
If your golf cart charger is charging the batteries, you are fine to use that. It means the batteries have enough voltage for the charger to turn on. Let it charge until it turns off. It should cut off when fully charged or after 16 hours. If it's still charging after that unplug it. After anytime you ride the cart, plug it in and let it charge completely until it turns off. Check the water levels 2 x month.

Re: Batteries were bone dry!
Im keeping fingers crossed. The charger is reading at 9 amps. I think my book says it will be just under 5 amps when the charger turns off. How can I check the voltage of the entire pack? Haven't been able to figure thatbout yet...thanks again

Re: Batteries were bone dry!
The battery cable going to the solenoid will be B+. The battery cable to the controller marked B- is the negative.

Re: Batteries were bone dry!
Great thanks for the info....
Looks like Im gonna be saving up for new batteries. They are charging and holding a nice charge, but some of them are starting to swell around the positive terminals. I found an 08 date on them. |
