Some life left in these batteries?
2002 36V DS - resistor cart
My cart is hitting around 14KM/h (8-9 mph) with ~5 year old batteries. Fully charge yields about 6.19 on each cell, some slightly less. According to the Trojan site, 6.4v is the target for a fully charged battery, and I am sitting at 70%. Is this an acceptable speed and do I still have some life left in these batteries ? Anything I can do to revive these things, or should I be saving for new cels ? Rhino |

Re: Some life left in these batteries?
Holy crap..
Sounds like I need to prop up the back end and measure the voltage hitting the motor, or could this be a case of tired batteries which would also be identified by a load test ? |

Re: Some life left in these batteries?
Yup... just have to convince the SO that the cart isn't fast enough (of course, she thinks it's fine).
Anyone got a good supplier in Canada ? |

Re: Some life left in these batteries?
Instead of propping up the back, drive up to a solid structure and drive into it while testing batteries.. That will test with a real load.

Re: Some life left in these batteries?
Just a follow-up post. Installed new T105's and re-wired cart with #4ga (404-strand) welding cable. GPS measuring at 21Km/h. Haven't checked tire pressure though, but don't expect a big change.
Thanks everyone. |
