Default 97 DS 48 Volt - Only 12 MPH?

Well its official the cart is ALIVE! Running like a champ. I GPSed it at 12MPH straight level ground and full batteries. Controller was upgraded from 300 amp to 400 amp. OTHER then a motor swap is there any way to get any more out of the cart with out getting crazy? Again thank you everyone for all of your help so far. I will try and get some pics up soon.

Up your tire size and you may see 15mph.
Reduce as much weight as you can (this includes your body weight).

bigger tires of course will take some torque away but with a 400 controller you should be fine . What gauge cables are you running ??? still factory 6 gauge should be changed to at least 4 ga.

Everything is stock. Well accept the upgraded controller but that was what the store had on the shelf. lol... I saw someone selling 8:1 gears for this cart. Would that make a noticeable difference?

Research shows approx 8 mph increase. You will lose torque for climbing hills. Perhaps someone who has done the swap will chime in.
