96 CC 48V problem
I have a 96 CC Series Cart 48V.
Cart has run fine for the last 6 months. All batteries are good. I have tested them all with load tester I built out of light bulbs. My daughter went riding the other day, she had ridden it all day almost 4 hours the day before. But she washed it off after going in mud she wasn't supposed to. She got on it the next day, got maybe 200 yards and boom, it came to a crawling speed. I told her to charge it up so she did. Charger cycled as normal. I got on it the next day and go 200 yards and boom comes to a screeching crawl. Let it sit an hour or so and it will do the same exact thing again. Battery voltages are all are above 8.4 v after 12 hours off the charger. All stock except 2 gauge cables. I have been upgrading a little at a time and just didn't have the money for new controller solenoid switch and motor, so I had the wire to make the cables, figured it couldn't hurt. Anyway, does this sound like a controller problem? Solenoid? Voltage on both sides of solenoid are 52V with pedal pressed. Doesn't seem like the motor could cause this problem with sudden loss of power after almost the same exact distance each time. I have since done this test 5 times. Each almost within 10 feet of the same distance from my driveway. I am at whits end. All my voltages look good, it just will not move. |

Re: 96 CC 48V problem
I'm not sure. I can't really find much documentation on the controller
Yesterday I went home and checked some more items. I bypassed the solenoid, nothing changed. I jumped from B- to M- with it jacked up and it still didn't work. however yesterday after driving the distance when it stopped, I held the pedal down and it started pulsing forward. Still not very fast, but you could feel it jumping a little bit. I am at a complete loss now. |

I would put a volt meter on each one while you push down on the pedal. |

I have checked the batteries over and over. with the pedal all the way to the floor they are dropping less than .1 v per battery. Pack voltage is staying above 50V with pedal pressed. |

Re: 96 CC 48V problem
If the motor is good then it would have to be the controller as long as you are not seeing voltage drop across the solenoid like you said..... Check out this how to....

Re: 96 CC 48V problem
I was going to try this tonight. I looked last night and couldn't find how to test the motor, I had actually found this same site 5 minutes ago.
Thanks Storm |

Re: 96 CC 48V problem
No worries. Me personally.... Jack the rear end up. Do this test with 1/2 your pack voltage and let it run for a while. see if the motor its self heats up and slows down. If the motor keeps running then I would put money on the controller.

Re: 96 CC 48V problem
I am thinking the controller as well.
It has been making a high pitch squeeling over the last 2 months. It is coming from the controller. |
