Default breaker on charger pops

with charger (model 17930 ser 02-98) plugged into wall outlet, when plugged into cart after 5-10 seconds there is a arcing/clicking sound and breaker pops on charger same problem with cart switch in tow or run position. batteries test out at 8 volts each or 48 across all six

1015914 - Heatsink Assembly.

It's a small diode strip mounted in the back of the charger. One or both of the diodes on this strip has shorted and is causing your failure.

Take all of the wires off of the heatsink. Put multimeter on diode test function. Put red lead on the middle and check the two outer posts by touching black to them. Then switch and put the black lead in the middle and check the outer posts with the red wire. You should get .500, .500, and Nothing, Nothing. If you get full continuity in any of these tests the diode has failed.

No. The installation is pretty straightforward. Just remove the old one and install the new one the same way. Be sure to apply the thermal paste behind it.
