Default Help with 06 CC Precedent Motor!

Hi everyone, I recently installed a new speed magnet in my speed sensor on my 06 Precedent with the GE motor. Unfortunately I unscrewed the two screws on either side of the dustcap... not only did I not need to do this but now the screws wont "catch" when i try to screw them back in. Its like there was a captured nut on the other side that wasnt actually captured or something.

Does anyone have some info on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Ok I found the technical manual for this motof (5bc59jbs6365) and it looks like the screws I loosened were "retain screw bearing" screws and screw into the screw rigging. the screw rigging may have spun while I was removing the old magnet and thus the threaded holes are not lined up.

New Question: Is it ok to remove the end shield with the motor still in the cart or to I need to remove the motor and stand it up on its end?

I happen to know someone who did the same thing. Do not drive the cart. Make sure to put it in tow. Disconnect the main battery cables. You have to remove the motor. The two screws you removed hold the bearing retainer. You will need one long screw to put this back together. It will be needed to hold the retainer as you put the motor back together. You will see what I am saying once you get into it. Se it is all clear as mud.

If you've got a factory light kit on the cart, remove the screw that holds the tail light lens in place. It's perfect length and will bite perfectly into the bearing retainer to allow you to hold it in place to start the other screw. Once the other screw is tight you may remove the taillight screw and replace it with the correct hardware.

Thanks all -- the factory light screw worked perfect and the motor is back in the cart. I am going to wire back up tomorrow and test it out.

Ok I did the same thing! Rats.. so the motor is still in the cart. Using the longer screw do I still have to remove the motor? Or can I do it while it's in the cart? Thanks!

You might get lucky. Put in tow and disconnect batteries.

No. Just pull the end cap off of it. Draw a line with a Sharpie marker down the shell of the motor and onto the cap to help with alignment when you re-assemble. After you've drawn the line you can take the cap off by removing the four outer screws and popping the cap off. After the cap is off you may now take the tail light screw and stick it through one of the center holes and into the bearing retaining plate. Tighten it a couple twists with a phillips screwdriver just enough to where it bites into the retainer, but not enough to mess up the threads. Leave the screw in place and put the cap back on the motor. Install the four bolts in the cap and tighten them up. You may now "Pivot" the bearing retaining plate into place to line up the other center screw. Install that screw and tighten it up. Remove taillight screw and replace with the other factory screw. Now you're done.
