Default Anyone tried high speed gears in a Club Car DS series Cart

Just received a 2001 Club Car DS , its a 6 passenger Cart , top speed is 16 MPH , Looking for option to increase top speed ? I know these series motors are built for torque. Is there enough extra for a high speed gear change .
Thanks

I think with the stock motor and controller you are going to be very disappointed with 6-1 gears.
I have a 650 controller and d&d motor and with 23s im disappointed in my 8-1gears torque loss. It went from 28 to 38 mph but with unacceptable torque loss.

My motor cost approx 600 but took me from 14 mph to 28.6 mph on stock tires. By far the best bang for buck change I made

Thanks for the reply. I was concerned about the possible loss of torque as well. I was just thinking with a Series cart motor being designed for torque maybe it would offset , I appreciate the real world results you have shared 26- 28.6 is completely acceptable . Can you share your controller and motor type /style ? I will just go this route

650 alltrax gave me enough torque to climb straight up a tree.
The custom es 81-41 from d&d got me the speed..
with those upgrades I highly recommend upgrading your cables, solenoid and f@r switch. All your current goes through every piece of electronics.

There is a package I'm considering that includes the components
You mentioned . The exception is its a 400 amp controller. Is your cart
A series cart ? Im thinking the 500 amp would work and I could still achieve
The top speed over 25 . I know that there have been issues reported
With alltrax and the precedents , is your acceleration smooth ?
Thanks for you advice

Controller wont affect speed at all. Only torque..
speed is rpm of motor...
I usually tell people to buy the biggest controller you can afford because torque is fun

Well I contacted D&D and inquired about your setup , was informed that was not recommended with a six passenger cart , best package available was 19 MPH. Very far away from your stated 28 MPH . I didn't realize the weight difference was that great from the standard cart Very expensive for 3 MPH . anyone have any other suggestions on achieving 25 MPH with a 2001 Club Car DS series 48 Volt 6 Passenger . It may be time to sell ?

They always under state their motors capabilities. I took four full size adults through tons of Texas hill country hills and had zero issues. Ive also loaded four people on cart and 3 more on my 5x9 aluminum trailer and pulled around the neighborhood with no problems.
Vic from d&d told me my motor would only due 22 or 23 and it did 28.6.. ive seen other d&d customers with similar results..
