Default 1990 Club Car Ds Battery Question

I recently aquired a 90 DS with 04 Trojan Batteries. The battery cells are dry but when load tested, they all read 6 volts. (3 12v batteries). If I put water in the battery cells, and charge them, can they be resurected?

If you are saying you have 3 12 volt batteries, then first off sounds like the cart is a 36 volt, and should have 6, 6 volt batteries, not 3 12's

put distilled water in them until just over the plates, and try to charge them, either they will take a charge or not

Yeah, this was owned by a course that converts there carts to run on 12v batteries. The 99 48v I bought from them was the same way. 4 12v batteries.

Is it smarter and more cost effective to go back to 6 6v batteries or 3 12v marine batteries?

If you need longer run time, then 6, 6 volts, if not then you could stay with 3 12's, but even if you only plan on putting around, I don't think 3 12's will do very much running before the batts are below 50%, and need to be charged, even if the cart is still running

Marine batteries are not designed for golf cart use. The 12V golf cart batteries are not Marine batteries.

I know but I don't feel like spending $1000 in 12v golf cart batteries for a cart I paid $100 for.

should be way less than 1k for 4 12 volts, or even 6 6 volts, but carry on

I put marines in my 99 48v and they work great. But if I can get an opportunity for cheap 6v batteries, I am all for it.
