Default 94 Club car worth $500??

I've got a buddy with a 94 Club Car DS that will not take a charge. Batteries are 3 years old, and he is meticulous about maintenance, so I know the batteries have been taken care of. He says the charger will charge another cart, just not his. I previously owned a 97 DS and when it started not charging, and the dash light was coming on and off, had to replace the OBC, which remedied the situation.

His has the orange dash light, and it has been coming on and off while using the cart. Now it will just not take a charge. I think the OBC needs replacing on his.

He is buying a new cart tomorrow, and the golf cart dealer is allowing him $500 trade in for his old cart.

Do you think it would be worth $500 for golf course use? I could always bypass the OBC and use a timer on the charger for a while until I could gather the money to replace the OBC. Body wise the cart looks great. Has winter cover, ball washer, cooler rack, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Around here you can not find a used anything (junker) for less than 1500. If it runs :1800, nice ride: 2500-3500. I say snatch it up and start the rebuild MADNESS!!

you have 3 choices
1) replace OBC $238 +s/h http://blockbustergolfcarts.com/48-v...relectric.aspx
2) get a DPI charger $285+s/h (ScottyB) http://www.cartsunlimited.n/48v_Battery_Charger.html old charger can be sold to recoup some of cost
3) install auto timer $106 + S/H http://blockbustergolfcarts.com/Club-Car-OBC.aspx

so for $700~$800 you can have a good cart

The story got a little better this afternoon! I went out to the golf course to rent a stall to keep the cart in. While there I checked out a few things on the cart. It is a 96 instead of a 94 if the serial number is correct. Started off A96, so doesn't this mean it is a 96 model?

Also buddy told me he had a cable problem and it hasn't charged right since he and another friend repaired the cable. I don't think I could get so lucky as to only have to do some cable repairs and it would start working!

Anyway, I plan on getting it home one evening next week and starting to troubleshoot it. I am sure I will have a few questions that you guys can help me with!

so your "friends" cart wont charge, and he is selling it cheap, you, however know how to possibly fix it, but decide not to tell your "friend" ?

glad we aren't "friends"

I told him EXACTLY what I thought was wrong with it and how much it would cost to repair it. He was going to buy a new cart anyway.

Thanks for your concern about my friend, but don't *** U ME that he didn't know how much it would cost to repair and I was hiding anything from him. You don't know me, but I can promise you I would never do that to a friend or enemy. I spelled assume that way because when one assumes something that they have no clue about, it makes an *** out of you and me. Please don't assume something about me that you have no clue about.

As to the other posters, thanks for your input.

edit - I see the word filter kept a word out. If you take the first part of assume, you will know what I was trying to say.
