Direct short across solenoid 2002 carryall
Hey guys I'm new to this so I'm not sure I'm doing the posts right but I need information on why sparks would fly when I bridge the solenoid terminals. I started another thread earlier about this project under the heading "major meltdown on 2002 carryall 1" but didn't get much info on this direct short and I thought maybe I done the thread or post wrong. When I bought this cart a few weeks back it had no batteries I installed a new battery pack and after replacing the old melted down f&r switch I turned on the key pressed the pedal and it popped load and went crazy!! Controller caught on fire and blew out one end, new cables melted down on part of the bat PAC , I replaced controller and all cables , recharged the batteries and they are holding at around 51 but nothing happens when I turn the key on and depress accel , no solenoid click , no nothing so I thought I would jump the post on the solenoid just to see if the connection was lost there and IT SOUNDED LIKE AN ARC WELDER AND MELTED THE END OFF THE CABLE IN LESS THAN A SECOND , DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEA WHY? I could sure use help with this one I've checked and rechecked the wiring diagram and unless I've lost the ability to read ( which is possible) its hooked right but CAN YOU WIRE THE BAT PAC AND CAUSE A DIRECT SHORT SOMEHOW? My car is 48 volt series from everything I've read on this post and that's how I have it hooked up, any help would be appreciated thanks!

It sounds like you have reversed the polarity (+&-) somewhere.
Is there a cart technician you can take the cart to ? Hate to see you smoke another controller. |

Re: Direct short across solenoid 2002 carryall
Hello thank you for the reply, my closest one is about an hour away I did just call him and he said the same thing he said to run down the wiring that was already on the car when I got it if I was sure what I had done was according to diagram that it was possible that since the old f&r switch was bad that someone who didnt know much about working on the unit could have switched a wire coming back to the controller or even small one on the solenoid so I'm gonna recheck the old connections that were on the car when I got it and if that doesn't work if someone doesn't reply with a remedy here ill probably just load it up and take it to him, thanks again for everything
