'01 DS Speed?
I'll be picking up an 01 DS on Sunday. I have a couple of Precedents, but have never owned or worked on a DS. What I know of the cart is that it will need a set of batteries and probably cables. I'm not sure if an 01 is a controller cart or not, so anything specific I should check out up front? Also what speed should be expected for a stock cart with new batteries?

Re: '01 DS Speed?
you should run around 12 stock give or take . is it a series cart , you can would know by the f/r switch being a lever instead of a rocker switch and it has a controller.

Re: '01 DS Speed?
It is either a series cart or a resistor cart.
Check to see how many fill caps are on the batts for voltage. 4 on each=48v, 3 on each=36v If 36v, check for resistor coils in the rear near motor... I would say 10-12 mph for resistor and around 14-15 mph for a series. |

. . . will be either a 36v resistor cart or a 48v Powerdrive cart (lever f/r switch) or a 48v Powerdrive Plus cart (rocker panel f/r switch) . . .

Re: '01 DS Speed?
It is a 48 volt series cart. I will need to upgrade the batteries and figure out the first speed upgrade. I'm probably not going to do a lift on this one, so need to know if just a motor swap would be sufficient to get around the 20 mph mark.

Re: '01 DS Speed?
An upgraded motor will do the trick go to D & D or Plumb Quick and check out their options. You may have to upgrade the controller to a 300amp.

Re: '01 DS Speed?
BTW, not positive but don't think they still made resistor carts in 2001

Re: '01 DS Speed?
The model # starts with AA so thought that was a series cart.
