96 48v DS Charger Unresponsive

I just bought my first cart and am super pumped about it now that I live just blocks from the course. It looked nice but the guy I bought it from (private party) didn't know the age of the batteries. It drove fine though so took home. Drove it around the block a few times that night with lights on too and when I parked it and put on the charger nothing happened... No sound no amp meter fluctuation. So i figured the batteries were still full or something but nonetheless I left it on the charger. Last night I drove it quite a bit more maybe a mile or more. Again put on the charger last night and nothing!!! What am I doing wrong?? Is it possible that you can drive it a mile and the batteries are still full enough to not start the charger. The guy said the charger works and obviously everything was charged when I picked it up so.. Also I noticed the cart receptacle doesnt hold the charger that tight. Is that normal? Thanks in advance I love the forum!

Make sure the charger is plugged into a live outlet. They will click like they are coming on but no meter movement. This power is coming from the batteries.

Take the charger it to the course and plug it into a cart that normally accepts a charge. If it turns on then at least you know the problem is with your cart and we can guide you through the problem solving. If it does not switch on we can concentrate on the charger as the likely problem.

I plug it in and nothing happens, no sounds. Then I plug in my cell phone charger and that works fine so the outlet is good to go. I'm assuming this means I have a bad charger. But how did this guy charge the cart for me to drive it w/ a bad charger. FYI it was an old man, didn't seem the type to be dishonest. Is there any way to test the charger itself?

Do a search on jumping relay in charger. Many chargers will not come on if the pack voltage falls below a threshold. There are many articles on this. You can also top up your batteries individually with a car charger

Remove the two black wires from the relay in the charger and jump them together. If the charger comes on , the relay is probably bad. The other possibility would be a bad OBC. The on board computer controls the charger.

This is a topic asked hundreds of times. by using the search option you can find the answers very easily. With that being said here is a repost from what I told someone else earlier this week........

You can bypass the OBC by jumping the relay in the charger and see if the OBC is bad or possibly the charger relay could be as well. TWO SEPARATE TESTS HERE!!!

To test the OBC.....
Under your seat located on the back of the charge socket is a gray wire. Unplug the two parts of the fuse holder on this wire. Make a jumper or use alligator clips and STILL USING THE FUSE jump this to -48. Charger should kick on in a few seconds.

If the charger still does not turn on it could be the relay in the charger. To test this put the gray wire back the way it was. You will need to remove the cover from the charger. On the front face of the charger right above the circuit breaker on the inside you will see a relay with four wires. Take the bottom two and jump them together. DO NOT HOLD ON TO THESE WHILE CHARGER IS PLUGGED IN. Once charger is plugged into cart and wall it should kick on in a few seconds. If it does NOT the charger is bad.

If it DOES I would recommend letting it run for 2-3 hours. Then put the wires back original on the relay and plug it all in again. If the charger kicks on in a few seconds with everything back the way it was then your pack voltage was too low and the charger has brought it up enough with the relay bypass to make it all work correctly. If it does not kick back on once it has ran in bypass for a few hours more then likely the relay is bad.

I wasn't pushing in the charger hard enough. You really have to shove it in there. Once I did that it popped right on
