Learning more every day!

Made a stop looking for distilled water today (had to get some pink RV antifreeze). The store I stopped at did not have any distilled water but did mention that bottled water also has some chlorine added that can make a battery swell.

I haven't added any to my batteries yet but I noticed a couple times I hear the batteries gurgle a bit on the upper end of the charge period making me think the water needs to be checked (had the cart less than two weeks with 2012 batteries) but they do show a decent 52 volts.

The gurgling is normal, and water levels should be checked AFTER you have fully charged the pack, not before. Every grocery store carries distilled water

. . . if it is not "distilled water", I would not put it in my batteries . . .

The FDA requires that bottled water have a total TDS (total dissolved solids) reading of 000-010ppm. Just to give you an idea of this rating, typical tap water can run from 002-400ppm depending on the city you live in ... distilled is 0 ppm

use ONLY distilled water in batteries

TDS can be even higher with tap water and even in bottled water, I run test on them quite often, you can see distilled water with a higher TDS. There is levels of quality even for distillation.

Also I find it hard to believe FDA regulates bottled water TDS, I haven't heard of that one, possible yes but unlikely. The FDA regulates labeling as purified water as in reverse osmosis and natural spring water of the like very different waters.
