Default 36 Volt Motor Swap

If I wanted to do a 36v motor swap. What do I need to look for when buying a motor to make sure it will fit? I have a '97 Club Car DS. Thanks!

I think CC uses a 10 spline axle? Not positive though...

DS, 36V, Series, 2.97 HP, CC Part #101772803. Used for years 84-91, 92-96, 97, 98-99, perhaps later. Why not go with a D&D or Plum Quick 48 volt motor?

From what I have read I will get more torque and speed from a 36 then from a 48 upgrade. Not to mention I can find most 36s for $200. ;)

You may be right as it stands to reason adding 25% more power (by swapping from 48V to a 36V motor) should increase your speed/torque by approx 25%. That said, Per PQ (site sponsor), Bandit 48 volt should see a 25% increase in speed and torque on stock cart, all for $225. Basically a new motor (and warranty) for $25 more vs. a 16+ yr old 36V motor in ???? condition for $200. I don't know, it would be worth the phone call to at least hear what they have to say. With the money you've invested, seems odd to skimp on the motor. Just sayin...
Either way, it looks like you'll have a nice cart!

My addition says 36 - 48 volt increase is 33%. The motors turn 33% more rpms. Top speed & torque improved by 33%. Bandit is not a new motor. It's a 16yr old motor with a new bearing in it and some paint.

ScottyB so you agree a 36v swap is the best idea for me? I have a 400 amp controller and 4awg wires. Sitting on 22" wheels now.

Lol.... I was thinking about that. For $325 I can get a 36v motor from them with the upgrade. 33% + 20% does NOT equal 53% but every little bit will help. lol... Not looking to roast the tires since the kids drive it but want some more then 16mph.
