My "New" 88
Well, found this pos on craigs list and thought it might hold me till I can rebuild the other 88 (if I do).......40 minute drive and a few hundred (should have paid ME to take it) and its home.....steering and suspension seem tight, brakes work good....had a pretty nice charger with it (way better than mine....if it works)ALL batteries seem gone (with one having a hole in the side and somebody tried to fix it with some kind of sealer)....main issues with this one is the battery tray....pretty bad shape, could I just pop rivet a plate across the whole bottom instead of piecing it in?......and having no batteries to test with I was wondering if this cart will run off the charger if I hook the battery cables directly to it, just to see if everything else is ok before I spend any more coin....

Can't go wrong with a good old club car. Some simple aluminum angle from the hardware store should fix the problem either rivet or weld in. What are the plans for this cart.

well, no plans really...just need one to beat around in (and for kids to drive) while I fix the other cart which is tore down to frame.....frame that needs some welding.....but I hate to spend cash on this one (new set of batteries) if everything else is bad....guy I got it from said he got it from somebody else on a trade, so he's never seen it move......that's why I asked about just seeing if it will move by wiring it straight up to the charger.....(which dosent really sound like a good idea but maybe it will work?)

I used alum angle from Homey Depot and pop rivited in new battery supports. Still working 7 years later. Nice wheels! Was it a gasser at one time, or they just used a gasser rear body?

Your middle picture looks like it has a gasser choke cover on rear body, drivers side, to right of charger receptacle. No big deal.
I cleaned up the old supports. Some I removed and replaced with angle, some I just rivet on top of old supports. Just need to keep the batteries level and measure for battery fitment. Measure twice, cut once. |

Yes, that's where the choke button is on a gasser. Someone probably put that gas cowl on the cart at one time.
