01 DS Steering Popping

I bought this cart a few weeks ago and am in the process of fixing all of it's problems. The only thing I have left is a loud popping noise especially when backing the cart out of the garage. It does it almost at full turn both left and right. You can actually see the steering mech jump a bit each time as well. I am guessing the steering box needs to be replaced. Are there any specific checks to do first? Thanks!!

is it popping as you turn or as you back up with the wheels already turned ?

Stock cart? Any Mods? (lift, tires?)

What do you mean by "steering mech"? (steering wheel, rack/pinion, what exactly jumps)

Stock 01 DS, pops when backing up and almost full turn on either side. I watched it with just turning the steering wheel and it's the rack that jumps when it pops.

OK, had a little more time this afternoon to look it over and found out there are no bushings on the leaf springs, front or rear. That's where the popping is coming from. Sometimes it's the little things that get overlooked.

So I need to get 6 bushings and install them. Thanks for the help guys!!

6 bushings ?
i would change them all ... 4 up front and 12 in rear

OK, had some math issues. Need 12 total. Got 4 locally and just fixed the front. Thanks!
