Jakesanke,
"Distilled" water has been condensed from water vapor. Although most people think of the vapor as steam at high temperature, it can as well be the water vapor in the air. If you cool the air, the water condenses; look at your cold beverage can on a hot day, those droplets are distilled water.

If you need medically pure distilled water, the condensate from your dehumidifier or A/C might not be good enough, as it will have impurities such as dust particles from the air carried along with it. However, the mineral ions that kill batteries will NOT be in the water, and the few tiny dust particles will not harm them.

My dehumidifier in the shop sits atop the refrigerator and discharges into the sink alongside. I just set a gallon jug under the drain line and it fills automatically; any overflow just goes down the drain. If your unit isn't set up like mine, just pour the water from the collection reservoir into a jug. You might want to rinse out the reservoir if it has a lot of dust/debris in it. I usually let the dehumidifier run for a day or 2 before collecting the condensate to allow most of the dust and crap to be rinsed out, but that's probably not really necessary.

Awesome, I learned something today!
I have a dehumidifier, I'll start using the water from it...

Thanks for all the input. Good to know mine is not the only piece of junk. I'll let my wife use it to water plants and go back to my paper cup and measuring stick method.

It is as long as you filter the dust out of it.

I use one of the auto fill bottles and it works just fine for me. It fills to the proper level every time no spillage and I find it easy to use. I always fill after charging to keep from overfilling.

I use a 4 oz injector , just put a piece of shrink tube over the other holes and just use two on the end . you can see right into cell as you fill

I do this also. Several brands of bottled water use this type top.
That is good know about my dehumidifier. I pour out 1/2 gallon each day and have been buying distilled water at the grocery store.

OK, I'll start the argument:

Condensed water does NOT equal distilled water.
