Not Charging ??
How can I determine whether I have a charger issue or a bad OBC without access to another charger?? Charger works when I by-passed the charger relay.
Also, I don't know what year my buggy is and there are no tags under my seat. How can I detemine the year model (48 volt)?? Thanks in advance!! |

Re: Not Charging ??
. . . bypassing the relay in the charger tells you the OBC is not communicating with the charger . . . check your sense lead fuse first . . as for cart's year, remove your keyswitch panel on the dash and look at frame on right side behind panel for serial tag . . .

Re: Not Charging ??
Also, the serial number tag is not under the seat, it is behind the go pedal under the dash. It will start with a letter (or two), and will be followed by 4 numbers. First two numbers are the year; second two are the week of production.
The six after the hyphen are a unique code to each cart and have no meaning... And welcome to BGW! |

Re: Not Charging ??
Thanks Dummy.
Would the batteries charge when I bypass the relay if the fuse was bad??? The batteries charged fine after I bypassed the relay. |

Re: Not Charging ??
if you by-passed the relay in the charger and the charger came on then ether the fuse is bad or the OBC is bad
check the fuse first ... if it is good then OBC is bad |

Re: Not Charging ??
Dummy, I read this from another thread:
yep that sounds like a bad OBC you have a couple choices 1) replace the OBC 2) buy a DPI charger, it eliminates the OBC ScottyB sells a great dpi charger at a good price http://www.cartsunlimited.net/48v_Battery_Charger.html If I buy a DPI charger, are any cart modifications necessary????? |

Re: Not Charging ??
nope ! that's the sweet thing about the dpi charger it replaces the obc
the obc told your old charger the state of your batteries and how much to charge them the dpi charger does this and has a float mode that maintains the batteries when cart is stored the carts unlimited deal is great !!! you tell him what you have (36v or 48v) type of plug and he sends you the charger ready to go |
