97 Vdrive what should I look for?

I have a 97 with Vdrive. I recently found out thru this forum that I needed to replace the solonoid. I did a through inspection of the electronic controls and decided to replace most of it. First, the Vdrive wiper is worn. Second, the solonoid stuck in the closed position and killed the batteries. Third, the fuse on the recharge plug melted and the outside cover is cracked around the screws. Fourth, the FNR switch is worn and has rust and corrosion. Fifth, The bank of resistors are rusty and the bolts that connect them are rusted. All of the wires look good, the batteries are good and the motor is good. I am in East Texas and would like to buy the parts here if possible. If I can't then what is a good and reliable source on the net. The only place that I have looked thus far is cartzone.com they seem to have everything that I need. Is there a better place to get what I need? Am I missing anything? I would like this cart to be reliable when I finish it.

ok guys i,m going to swear again.........you can get parts from golfcart catalog they sell online as does buggies unlimited than theres E-bay.........there are also several other on-line places that some of these guys will post when they read this..........as for the resistor coils if they are just rusty and not broke try cleaning them before replacing them you,ll save about 75 bucks and they are still as good as new ones.............if you do buy them they are different size wire and different # of loops depending on which speed its for so make sure you take notes to put the right one back in the right spot............1st thing to buy is the service manual if your gonna do your own work.....................you can buy the V-glide as a whole unit that comes with everything in it already or you can buy all the componants seperate...............buy yourself a few extra micro switches to keep on hand.......the F&R is another item that you can clean and make good as new if you want, dosn,t hurt to even have another solenoid handy in case................good luck with it and have fun.........................

Thanks Shadowman, Thats the advice that I was after, it'll save me some bucks. The resistors just have a little surface rust on them. The main reason I asked about where to get parts is that some places sell aftermarket parts that are not built like OEM parts.

yep you need to watch that..........some offer OEM and aftermarket..........one of the places i listed when you buy from them its mostly aftermarket thats why such a good price.............since we don,t use these carts as they were intended to use i stay away from aftermarket unless OEM can,t be had, i explain all this to my customers and if they insist on aftermarket when OEM is available i make them buy it this way when the part fails i don,t have to listen to it.........and i get paid labor twice............now if i have to buy aftermarket i still explain my feelings and concerns but i bite my lip and proceed.....................................

hi wildman and welcome, i am new to this forum and have gotten great info here, your story sounds like mine but i have a 01 v-glide, i did all the repairs your talking about, got my parts from golfcartcatalog.com.
my resistors were rusty and i soaked them in a aluminum cleaner they use for cleaning big truck fuel tanks and such, it cleaned them like new, i also replaced the solenoid and f/r switch and just relaced the v-glide, my cart had sit for about a year before i got it so i had to take all electrical connections loose and clean it all, i got a repair manual also, it's worth the $ for the info.

Nice post Airborne, My parts just came in and I pick them up today. I found a place here in Nacogdoches, Tx. that deals in Club Car carts. Paid them a visit and after seeing their facility and talking carts decided to buy thru them. Glad to hear that you got yours fixed. I took some digital pics of the wiring so I can refer to it during assembly.

wildman, glad to hear you found a good source for parts, i used the wiring diagrams posted on this site, but they are in my manuals, more clear!
hey, i was at ft.benning back in 79. wish i was still in that shape.
