Default Steering wheel has a lot of play

The steering wheel on my 86 CC has a lot of play. Not in the normal steering operation but in the actual steering shaft (if that's the name). I can move the steering wheel top to bottom and side to side without actually turning the steering wheel. I'm guessing there's spacers or washers that are supposed to be inside. The issue is I went to remove the bolt that is in the center of the steering wheel, but it broke off. Either it was welded or it was rusted really bad. So if I remove the lower steering linkage will the steering wheel and rod come out together?

Thanks CTD. Is that from a service manual? I only saw owner's manuals in the Sticky sections.

I had a 79 Dodge 4wd. Those were notorious for wearing out the joint in their steering shaft. I was wondering if that was what your problem was but you seem to have come to something else.

Borg Warner made a replacement for the Dodge that made the steering better than new.

the parts manual just shows the parts and how they are placed , the owners manuals give the basic care of the cart , the service manual goes into detail removal, repair ,& reinstall
my 93~95 service manual is 390 pages

Yea, I had the service manual for the EZGO build and it came in handy. Probably wouldn't be worth it for this build seeing as the rear is ATV set up and the front suspension will be aftermarket.

Some vendors have been kind enough to list them online for public use. Valuable resources for sure, I've used them a number of times and threw a little business their way because of it. Scroll to the bottom for Club Cars: http://www.eastcoastcarts.com/tools/technical-manuals
