I understand thrifty. If you remember, my thread started with "I got this at slightly more than half price". Also, I considered the extra cost because mine really does sit for at least 4 months and typically nearer to 5! In a way, if there is any improvements or recovery to be had with pulse charging (can't say I'm really expecting any), 4 or 5 months ought to prove or disprove it. My batteries are old & tired and have lived a good life, so I can't realistically imagine much in the way of recovery. I'll be happy with survival-til-spring.

Make sure your water is topped up before you leave. Even though its going to be clumsy what with my heavy vinyl cover, I intend to check the water on mine monthly for this first year trial.

Warning....Only for those with time to burn/waste - supposedly independent study (I was barely able to understand the conclusions) on why pulse chargers are supposed to be beneficial for lead/acid flooded cells. Note: there are many (most) who criticize and dismiss findings like these, because they do not replicate real-world environments; but were done in labs with structured protcols. I am neither smart enough or passionate enough to defend this article. CTD (AKA Mr. Dummy), are you still testing the BLS device?

Hey that study is almost 20 years old... they compare pulse chargers against "invariant-current recharge" as in the really old 36v chargers with a knob in front of them...
Also, the BLS is not a charger....
Most onboard chargers are pulse chargers and as the cost/complexity/reliability improves, I imagine golf cart companies will adopt them.

Hi, Sergio - I know the BLS isn't a charger, but I recall CTD trying one for the "pulse/maintenance" aspect and was wondering how it was going. I actually could tell it was not comparing to taper chargers (and that it was old) but as originally claimed...I could barely read the conclusions.

Wow - you traded in batteries that were eight years newer than mine. Makes me feel kinda...uhmmm...elderly. Glad it wasn't cause they got BLS'd to death or anything negative associated with your lengthy test. Thanks for the update!
